Weight: 4 lbs 9.8 oz - she's gained almost a full pound in a week!
Length: 42 1/2 cm (which is almost 17 inches)
Head Circumference: 32 1/2 cm
Finley has been gaining lots of weight this week, some days as much as three full ounces! At feedings, she'll take anywhere from 75 to 100 cc, so it's no wonder she's grown. If she keeps it up, we're thinking that we may have a 5 1/2 to 6 pound baby by the time her due date rolls around.
As I've mentioned numerous times in previous posts, Finley has to go five days without having an episode of apnea and brady before she can come home. The thinking behind this is that if a baby goes at least five days without having one, most likely they have outgrown the premature apnea and won't continue to have them. The latter half of this week she'd gotten to two and a half days and then had one early Saturday morning. The good news is that she self-corrected it and she hasn't had one since then. After she hits the five day mark, the doctors run a 12 hour sleep study, which examines at her breathing patterns. Finley has to pass the sleep study before she can come home; so even if she makes it the five days apnea-free, she could still have to stay in the NICU if she fails the sleep study. Obviously we're saying our prayers that that doesn't happen! The hardest part for me is not knowing when she'll come home. It's easy to get my hopes up only for her to have another apnea, thus delaying her homecoming again. Right now I'm trying to work on my patience and deal with my lack of control - but that's definitely easier said than done!
