Happy One Month Birthday (Just a few days late!)

First off, Finley is awesome and has taken her job of growing very seriously this week. In the past seven days, she has grown an inch and gained half a pound, which makes her 16 inches long and 3 lbs 8 oz! She's continued eating really well and we're up to four bottle feeds a day - half way to full bottle feeds! Her nervous system is maturing as well and the number of apnea and brady spells has decreased dramatically. Two weeks ago she had 32 episodes and this past week she only had 10! We're confident that pretty soon she'll stop having them altogether.

She's now 35+ weeks gestationally and in addition to looking more like a baby and less like a preemie, she's starting to act more like a typical baby. For much of the first month, Finley slept and was rarely awake or active. But just in the past few days, her spunky side has been awakened. She pouts when she wants to be fed, and if we're not fast enough to feed her, then she wails frantically and squirms around until we put a bottle in her mouth. Yet another nurse told us yesterday that Finley was feisty, and then she said that the feisty babies go home sooner! Here's to hoping she's right!
