Finley has been doing great. Her vocabulary is exploding and just about everyday it seems like she is adding a new word or sound. Last night I was reading her some prayers and when I was finished she mimicked me and said "Amen". So cute! Right now she regularly says Mama, Dada, bye (complete with a wave!), dog, up, down, book, ball, all done, ut-oh, ow, baby and baba (bottle).
Since she seems to be focusing on language development, she hasn't started walking yet. Finley is a great cruiser, and if she's absorbed in playing with something, she'll stand up on her own. She may not be walking yet but she sure does climb! She has conquered every piece of seating furniture in the house - both couches, dining room chairs, living room chairs, ottomans, her rocking chair and her stroller. The best part is that she has also learned how to safely get down from all of these so that she doesn't fall or get hurt. Amazing, if I do say so myself!
If Finley is given a 30 second head start, she can find some sort of trouble to get into. Her current favorite (and utterly disgusting) ornery activity is to lift the toilet lid and play in the toilet water. Gross! She also likes to lift the lids of trash cans and empty them out and unroll the toilet paper. (Remember how I said that I spend a lot of time cleaning? Now you know why!)
We taught her how to give a high five and it's pretty darn cute. Unfortunately sometimes Finley gives your face a high five, which is not cute. The other night, Andrew was holding her and she slapped his face. He responded with a stern "no" and she had the audacity to (literally) laugh in his face. Then she turned to her adoring fans (Aunt Ginny, Uncle David, Gigi and Franko) and pretended to wave at them. Andrew let his guard down thinking she was being cute by waving and then she completely psyched us all out and proceeded to get one more quick face slap in before Andrew could stop her. She is smart and ornery - a dangerous combination!
Finley Grace is also the sweetest, most laid-back kiddo around and we love her lots and lots!
