Talk, Talk, Talk

A lot has been going on in the past weeks so I apologize in the delay of getting a new post up. Finley has always been really good at mimicking words she hears us say but she's really using her words now to communicate her wants and needs, which is so exciting! Here is a list of the words she's saying right now, along with her pronunciations if she can't say them quite right yet:

1.) bottle (ba-ba) - she uses it when she wants milk

2.) water (wa-wa) - she uses it when she wants some water, she understands the word water but can't pronounce it herself so she'll say wa-wa

3. ) eat (it) - she'll usually go stand by her highchair and repeat "it" over and over until she gets her meal

4.) up (ut) - when she wants to be picked up, Fin will pull up on your legs and say "ut"

5.) down - she wants down, she'll tell you that too

6.) night night (nigh-nigh) - she she's ready for a nap or to go to bed at night she'll start saying "nigh-nigh"

7.) walk (wok wok wok) - when she wants to practice walking or while she's walking, she'll say "wok" - usually she says it three times

8.) all done - she uses "all done" whenever she's finished doing something - usually when she's finished eating but also when she wants to get out of her bath or when she's done playing with a certain toy

Here is a list of words that we're working on:

1.) gentle (geen-tle) - she has that word associated with our dog so she'll look at me and say it in a singsong voice and then give Rusty a nice, firm swat so she obviously doesn't quite grasp it's meaning yet

2.) thank you (dang-ew) - she'll say it after you prompt her but she doesn't ever say it without being reminded - but hey, that's the first step right?!?

3.) book (boo-k) - Fin knows what a book is but she doesn't say the word unless prompted. Hopefully soon she'll ask for a book when she wants to read

4.) kiss - she doesn't try to say the word but she understands it and will give a kiss if you ask her too. She also understands eskimo kiss and will stick out her head, shake it and rub your nose. Too cute! But she's really picky about when and to whom she'll give a kiss - sometimes I'll ask for one and she just pushes my face away. That gives me hope for her teenage years though!

5.) diaper, pee pee and poo poo - she'll repeat the words and we're working on understanding what the words mean. Hopefully this will be our first step towards potty training, not that I see it anywhere in the near future, but a girl can hope!

6.) sit down (thzit down) - I must tell Finley to sit down about a million times a day! The rule in our house is that when she climbs onto a chair, she is only allowed sit, but she constantly pushes the limits by standing up. Usually when asked to sit down though, she'll sit back down but sometimes she'll just look at me and say "thzit down" and then try to stand or climb even faster.

7.) Andrew (An-doo) - One evening I was calling for Andrew and Finley repeated me by saying "An-doo, An-doo". I think it's adorable but Andrew only wants to be called Dada.

I feel like I'm probably leaving out a few but that's all I can think of now...
