- Her current stats are: length - 25.5 in (which is at the 10% for the eight month charts), head circumference - 42 cm (also at the 10%) and weight - 13.2 lbs (which is at the less than 5%). She's still a skinny minnie despite my attempts to fatten her up a bit!
- Squealing! She squeals in anticipatory excitement when we play her games. Sometimes she squeals just to squeal, and is it ever loud and high-pitched!
- We've added a few new foods this month - peaches, mashed white potatoes, applesauce, avocadoes and egg yolks.
- Finley is extremely observant and curious about what Andrew and I eat and drink. At meal times we've started putting Finley in her high chair and we let her taste a little of what we're eating (as long as it's appropriate for her age). It's amazing how she gobbles it up so much easier than when we try to feed her baby food.
- We've also introduced the sippy cup this month. She was a natural - she grabbed the handles and stuck the spout right into her mouth. She doesn't actually suck from it yet but we're working on it :-)
- She's started holding her books while she's being read to - usually she grabs them in an attempt to put them in her mouth!
- During tummy time, Finley pushes up onto her hands. She'll also stick her rump in the air and pull her knees underneath her. Now if she can just combine the two, she'll be crawling!
- She can pull herself from a reclining position into a sitting one and from a sitting position into a standing one.
- She used to stick her whole hand in her mouth but lately she's been preferring just to suck (well, gnaw, really) her thumb.
- Her fine motor skills are increasing - she is able to pick up small things (like the size of cheerios)
- Finley's started sticking out her tongue. A lot! She played with her friend Cash one evening and Cash blew raspberries all night long. The next day Finley started sticking out her tongue and hasn't stopped.
- She's started lunging at things when she sees something she wants. One of her favorite things to lunge for is her lamp next to her changing table. Not sure what's so fascinating about it, but she makes a grab for it just about every diaper change.
- She's standing now with very little assistance. Fin loves to stand on the couch and look out the window. When she's a little fussy, I usuallylet her do that and she calms right down. She also loves her exersaucer now that she's stronger and more comfortable on her legs.
- Finley just started sitting up on her own yesterday - yay! She can only stay up for about 15 seconds at a time but she seems to get a little better at it each time we practice.
And I think that's about all that she's done for the past month. Whew! Who knows what the next month will have in store for Finley, but I'm thrilled that I'm her mama and I get to experience it with her. I love my little bit!
