On Monday (February 22nd), Finley turned seven months old! She's getting to be such a big girl and I decided to start taking notes on what she's doing each month. It's hard for me to remember what she does when, so hopefully having everything written down here will help. And it will be fun to look back at in the future! So here's what's been going on this month:
- We'll start with the basics - Finley weighs 12 lbs 12 oz (she's gained 10 lbs 10 lbs from birth) and she's 24 1/2 in long (she's grown 10 1/2 inches).
- Finley's learned to take her pacifer in and out of her mouth. She loves to take it out and stare at it for a few minutes before putting it back in her mouth. Sometimes she gets it right back in the mouth without incident and sometimes she pokes herself in the eye or forehead before she gets it right.
- Speaking of the pacifier, Finley's needing it less and less as she is finding other ways to self soothe. Right now she's really only using the pacifier when she goes to sleep.
- Steamroller! Fin loves to roll over now and does it with ease.
- Finley likes to look at the mirror and her reactions to her reflection are precious. About half the time she smiles and coos, and the other half of the time, she gets shy and snuggles her face into my neck. So sweet!
- We've really been working on standing up and sitting up this month. Fin still needs assistance with both but she's been making great strides. She loves to 'climb' up me when she's held in an upright position.
- She's started on solids and seems to enjoy them more every day. Finley's eating about 4-5 oz of solids everyday and she's currently eating rice cereal, oatmeal, pears, bananas, sweet potatoes, green peas and, her very favorite, green beans. She gobbles up those green beans!
- During tummy time, Finley's started to lift her bottom and pull her knees underneath her. Now if only she can strengthen her arms to lift her upper body off the ground, she'll be crawling in no time!
- She's needing fewer, shorter naps during the day and her activity level has increased a lot. Finley is always moving and wiggling around. Her pediatrician commented on how "lively" she was during her examination. Our little squirmy worm!
- Everything is grabbed up and promptly put in her into her mouth. She enjoys sucking and chewing on her linking letters and her fingers A LOT!
- Finley has started lifting her legs up for me when I change her diaper. Such a little helper! Of course, she also likes to roll over during diaper changes too, which is not helpful at all :-)
- Stranger danger! In the past few weeks, separation anxiety has set in and Finley gets upset when someone other than Andrew or I holds her. After a few minutes of crying, she usually settles down though.
- Right now her favorite games are killer bees, getty bird and she's starting to enjoy peekaboo too.
